The girl in the train

Heey! I`m reading a real book in English! It`s not adopted, it`s written by a British writer Paula Hawkins.
Originally I wanted to rear «The old man and the sea» and there was even a group for it, but life is cruel and unfortunately I had to choose «The girl in the train».
Honestly, if I had a chance I`d swap the book for something different. It`s very cheerless and has so little sense for me. I think this detective story is so alike Dontsova`s ones: somebody was killed and it turns out that the killer UNEXPECTEDLY is a husband on a victim ect. I expected the story to be a least a little more thrilling, but the truth is it`s very boring.
Here`s my favorite quote: «The holes in your life are permanent. You have to grow around them, like tree roots around concrete; you mould yourself through the gaps». I think it means that everyone has hard times, and sometimes they`re so hard that something inside you brakes without any chance to recover. It influences your soul. But the thing is that life goes on and you have to learn and have courage to move on too.
Actually we read only the exposure, so there`re no bright events yet. So let it be one of the first episodes, when Rachel catches the train. The way she behave is very strange, she just looks through the window and thinks of strangers` life. She has great imagination actually. Instead of coping with her own problems, the thinks of life of people she doesn`t know, because can`t improve her own life anyhow.
