In my opinion Jazz is the most unique form of art. Its lust for life, spirit of freedom and love permeates every sound of it. I also consider jazz to be the most American art form, as it reflects most of American values.
- FREEDOM. I guess freedom and independency are the key national ideas of the US as a country. These words define Americans as a nation, as well as they define Jazz as a music genre. Jazz is all about artistic freedom, ability to express your intimate feelings through the sounds of music. It’s also interesting that even the melody of American English is often compared to Jazz.
- EQUALITY. This idea might be even more important. «All men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness», says the Declaration of Independency. This philosophy is also one of the stepping stones of Jazz. It doesn’t matter if you’re black or white, it doesn’t matter where you came from, Jazz unites people of all backgrounds and nationalities.
To sum up, I want to say Jazz is unique to its very core, none form of art can hold a candle to it in terms of authenticity. It is just as unique as America.
