This Thursday we started a new part or our lectures — History of the United States. Miss Bronich told us how it all began, about Englishmen who came for gold and founded the fist settlement Jamestown, which was named after the King James I. Also she told us about a person named John Smith who saved the colony from hunger by introducing iron discipline. He also wrote the first book about America, which was more like an advertising brochure but still it was the first of that king. What is more, John Smith made up the first American myth about a daughter of an Indian chief. Her name was Pocahontas and she married an Englishman, baptized and even traveled to England, and everybody was astonished with her intelligence.
This story grabbed my attention and I decided to watch a Disney Animated Move about this amazing women, and I highly recommend you to see it.

You think I’m an ignorant savage
And you’ve been so many places
I guess it must be so
But still I cannot see
If the savage one is me
How can there be so much that you don’t know
You don’t know

You think you own whatever land you land on
The Earth is just a dead thing you can claim
But I know every rock and tree and creature
Has a life, has a spirit, has a name
